Behind the Name

Louisville, Kentucky's known for two things — the Kentucky Derby and bourbon whiskey. In fact, there are dozens of bourbon distilleries in Louisville alone — more than 100 in the whole state.

So what makes the old Butchertown district of Louisville noteworthy? Well today, it's the home of Kentucky's only (and most un-bourbon) brandy distillery — Copper and Kings. But this modern paradox is only the latest in the neighborhood's history.

Unapologetically different, but similar in its early American boldness and originality, Butchertown developed out of a largely blue-collar immigrant population. It was a no-nonsense community that made its reputation from the hard-working attitude of its constituency.

Its reputation today hasn't much strayed, either.

Even amongst a sea of similar, it's the individual that stands out. Difficult though it may be, the path of divergence is often the one that stands the test of time.

Aweful ribbon

I received my hat as a present. I opened the box today and the string along the top of the ribbon has been frayed and is loose. Furthermore the ribbon has glue marks coming through the ribbon. I today read this is "distressed." I am extremely disappointed because I am a large size & hard to fit, but this one did fit.

Never received

I would give a 0 star review if I could. I placed my order on March 5 (money cleared the bank on March 6). Was told it would be delivered in 5-7 business days. I sent an email asking about my order on March 22. Today (March 24) I received an email asking for my review. Still no hat or reponse to my email. Would NOT recommend.

cool character and vibe

The name's pretty spot on — it feels like it would've come off a blues musician from the 50s, and I stumbled across it at an antique store. I like the worn band. Stone color is nice, kind of an earthy brownish grey.

I've made multiple purchases from your sight and have been satisfied for the most part. However, I'm very dissatisfied with my most recent purchase. The band in the Butchertown was damaged; the hat did not fit, at all and it was color was lighter than advertised. I am returning the hat for a full refund.

Really sorry to hear about that, Travis. Definitely never what we want to see on any order. Let me address a few things, just want to be clear:

- The band on this hat is distressed by design; it's designed to look like it's been worn in over years. Sorry if that wasn't clear enough, we'll work on highlighting that more.
- Sorry about the fit — since every head is different, we try and make sizing as clear as possible. But that's also why we offer the Damnson Guarantee and make size exchanges always easy and completely free.
- As for the color, that's our bad as well. I agree – the picture of the Stone colorway seems darker than in reality. We're going to make that change right away to make it more clear for people moving forward.
